TRANSFER CREDIT
Transcripts of credits earned are initially evaluated by the Undergraduate
Admissions Office and a copy of the evaluation is issued to the applicant.
A copy is also issued to the advisor for college evaluation. The
official WCBA evaluation will be completed by a WCBA advisor and will
be given to the student at the initial advisement session. Only transfer
courses which have a YSU equivalent will be applied toward degree requirements.
Transfer credit is given for all course work taken at a regionally accredited
college or university as recognized by the Council on Postsecondary
Accreditation (COPA), providing that the student has a cumulative
point average of at least 2.0 (on a 4.0 system) at the institution
and that the work is creditable toward a degree at that institution.
A grade of D accepted in transfer of credit does not satisfy a
prerequisite for which a higher grade is needed. A student who has
a cumulative grade point average of less than 2.0 (on a 4.0 system)
at a regionally accredited institution can only transfer courses in which
a grade of C or higher has been earned. Courses earned
at two-year colleges transfer for freshman/sophomore level credit.
Transfer students are to be admitted in GOOD STANDING or on WARNING
according to their status at the university from which they are transferring.
If YSU accepts a transfer course from another institution which the
student believes satisfies some portion of the curriculum but does not
correspond to a specific YSU course, the student may appeal to the academic
advisor for a reevaluation of the credit. The student will be required
to provide a syllabus and corresponding course work which the academic
advisor will submit to the appropriate department chair for review.
The department chair is the final authority on course equivalencies.
ARTICULATION AGREEMENTS
The WCBA has articulation agreements with thirteen community colleges
in the region. After completing an Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree
at the community college, students are guaranteed admission into the WCBA
to complete remaining courses required for a Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration (B.S. in B.A.) degree. The following table
identifies community college course equivalents with YSU courses.
